Nebraska sophomore Archie Wilson was honored Monday, as he was chosen as one of the Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 for Week 6.

Wilson put together one of the best performances of his career, as he averaged 57.3 yards per punt in Saturday’s 20-17 loss to No. 7 Indiana. Wilson had the two longest punts of his career on Saturday, a 60-yarder in the second quarter before booming a career-best 68-yard punt in the fourth quarter.  His 57.3 yards per punt was just shy of NU’s single-game school record of 57.6 yards by Dan Hadenfelt at Colorado in 1999.

On the season, Wilson is averaging 44.6 yards per punt on 17 kicks this season, as he has placed seven of his 17 kicks inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. Wilson’s efforts have the Huskers ranking 20th nationally in net punting at 43.0 yards per kick.

The Huskers hit the road this weekend, traveling to No. 25 (coaches) Oregon. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. and the game will be televised on FOX and carried on the Huskers Radio Network.
