Serious Accident in Lincoln County
At 7:28 AM deputies and EMS were dispatched to MM 165 on Highway 30, near Hershey, It was reported that there was a three vehicle accident with injuries. When deputies arrived Hershey EMS was attempting to remove the driver from a Ford Range pickup. It had heavy front end damage and he was trapped inside. The other 2 drivers were out of their vehicles and seemed to be fine. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that 23 year old Halley Falkena of North Platte was west bound in her 2007 Trailblazer when she noticed a vehicle come up behind her. She was concerned that the vehicle was going to hit her from behind. Suddenly the vehicle pulled out to pass her. 58 year old Daniel Richarson of Sutherland was east bound, driving his 1993 Ford Ranger. The passing vehicle hit him nearly head on. The passing vehicle was a 14 year old male, with a school permit who was headed to band practice. He was driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The Jeep skid into the ditch and rolled onto its top. The vehicles that were involved in the head on collision veered into the path of Ms. Falkena’s vehicle causing damage to the front of the vehicle. The 14 year old has a fractured neck. Ms. Falkena did not have any serious injuries. Mr. Richardson possibly had a broken leg and possibly a broken hip along with facial injuries. Highway 30 had to be closed for both eastbound and westbound traffic for an hour.
