Mar 17, 2026 / KRGI News
Nebraska State Senators rejected a measure to increase the salaries of elected officials. The raises, which would have been the first in 20 years, would have taken place after the elections, beginning in 2027. Prior to debate, in a joint statement, Governor Jim Pillen, Lieutenant Governor Joe Kelly, State Treasurer Joey Spellerberg, and Secretary of State Bob Evnen expressed their opposition to the pay increase. The vote was 21-18 in favor, four votes shy of advancement.
