Paige Warren named Region IX Player of the Week


McCook Community College sophomore Paige Warren was named Region IX's first Players of the Week for her performance for the opening week of Region IX play, March 2-6.

In the weekend series at Trinidad, Colo., the two-way Victoria, British Columbia native picked of a pair of wins and slugged three home runs.

In the circle she went 2-0 with back-to-back shutouts, in 11 innings pitched, she struck out 14 and walked two. At the plate she hit .562, with nine hits, three home runs, seven RBIs and three stolen bases. That equates to a .611 on-base average and a 1.188 slugging mark as the Lady Indians swept the Trojans.

She leads all Region IX pitchers with a 6-0 mark in the circle and tops the league with 34 strikeouts in 47 innings with her 2.68 ERA second in the region. Offensively she is batting .441 with seven doubles, three homers and 21 RBIs (third most in Region IX) with 23 stolen bases, which tops all players in the region and is tied for fifth in the nation.
