Nebraska State Fair to Showcase Nebraska Ag on National Stage at Great American State Fair

Nebraska agriculture will be under our nation’s greatest spotlight this summer as the Nebraska State Fair partners with the Office of Governor Jim Pillen and the Great American State Fair to showcase the state's agricultural excellence during America's 250th anniversary celebration.

As part of the historic event, life-sized cutouts of champion livestock from the Nebraska State Fair will be transported from Nebraska to Washington, D.C., where they will be displayed on the National Mall as a tribute to the state's rich ag heritage and the hardworking farm and ranch families who help feed the world.

The Nebraska State Fair worked closely with Governor Pillen's office to coordinate the transportation and display of the champion livestock exhibits, providing millions of visitors an opportunity to experience Nebraska finest treasures in a unique and memorable way during the national celebration.

"Being invited to participate in the Great American State Fair is an incredible honor and it also underscores for the rest of the country, the importance of Nebraska agriculture," said Jaime Parr, Executive Director of the Nebraska State Fair. "For generations, Nebraska farmers, ranchers, and exhibitors have showcased the very best of our state at the Nebraska State Fair. To now share that story on the National Mall during America's 250th celebration is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

The life-sized livestock displays represent champion animals exhibited at the Nebraska State Fair and serve as a visual reminder of the dedication, stewardship, and innovation that define Nebraska commodities. The exhibit will help tell the story of production agriculture and food-related industries, which are responsible for 44% of Nebraska’s economic output each year.

Governor Jim Pillen praised the collaboration, in a recent press conference, as an opportunity to showcase Nebraska's leadership in agriculture to a national audience. Pillen highlighted many of Nebraska’s greatest resources, noting that the people of the state are it’s greatest asset – closely followed by our abundant resources.

The Great American State Fair is a signature event of the Freedom 250 celebration, bringing together states from across the nation to highlight their unique cultures, traditions, industries, and contributions to the American story.

The display will be up from June 25 – July 10th, in Washington, D.C.
