MNB Seniors Victorious Over Holdrege to Win the B6 Area Championship

MNB Seniors took down Holdrege 4-3 on Tuesday.

MNB Seniors were the first to get on the board in the first when Asher Wilson scored after tagging up.

Landon Hartzog tripled to center field, which helped Holdrege tie the game at one in the top of the third.

In the bottom of the third, MNB Seniors broke up the tie when Abel Wilson singled, scoring one run. Then a double by Jaime Samaniego followed to extend the lead to 4-1.

Kale Sattler opened the game for MNB Seniors. The southpaw gave up three hits and three runs (two earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out six and walking three. Landon VanBoening stepped on the hill first for Holdrege. The starter allowed two hits and two runs over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking four. Bo Schlegel appeared in relief for MNB Seniors.

Samaniego led MNB Seniors with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The center fielder went 2-for-2 on the day. MNB Seniors had patience at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Schlegel and Trenton Raile led the team with two bases on balls each.

Nick Taylor, Grayson Popple, and Hartzog each collected one hit for Holdrege. Taylor and Hartzog each drove in one run for Holdrege.

McCook will play in the American Division Class B State Tournament in Springfield starting Saturday, August 1st.
