McKeon Resigns as District 41 State Senator

In a tearful prepared statement, Dan McKeon resigned as District 41 State Senator this morning. The action came before debate on his potential expulsion from the legislature. That resolution was the only item on the schedule.  McKeon was the subject of a sexual harassment investigation following an incident after the 2025 legislative session. The Executive Board had voted 9-0 for his expulsion in advance of today's consideration of LR292. 

The governor will appoint McKeon's replacement, who will serve until a special election can be held to determine a replacement. That individual will serve the final two years of McKeon's term.
