Mast Named to Netherlands Roster for World Cup Qualifiers
Former Nebraska forward Rienk Mast is among the 15 players on the Netherlands preliminary roster for this month’s FIBA World Cup Qualifiers announced this week.
Mast, who last played for the Senior National Team in 2023, made the first cut from the original 24-man roster announced in July. The final 12-man roster will be announced closer to the qualifying window, as the Netherlands will travel to Cologne to face Germany on Aug. 27 before returning home to face Croatia on Aug. 30.
Mast recently completed a stint in NBA Summer League with the Indiana Pacers, averaging 15.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in four contests in Las Vegas. Mast’s performance in Las Vegas was highlighted by a 23-point, 10-rebound effort against Toronto and a 16-point, 11-rebound performance against Cleveland. His 9.0 rebounds per game tied for sixth among all players in the NBA Summer League.
As a Husker, Mast led Nebraska to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances (2024 and 2026), including a school-record 28 wins and the school’s first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2026. The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 13.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game last season en route to earning All-Big Ten honors. He led the Huskers with three double-doubles in 2025-26, including a triple-double against FIU with 18 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists.
Mast joins several former Huskers helping their nations qualify for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, including Thorir Thorbjarnarson (Iceland), Jack McVeigh (Australia) and Tai Webster (New Zealand).
