Markowski Earns Spot in WBCA “So You Want To Be A Coach” Program

Lincoln - Nebraska center Alexis Markowski is among an outstanding group of players around the country included in the list of participants in the 22nd Women's Basketball Coaches Association "So You Want To Be A Coach" program announced on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Each student-athlete will participate in the WBCA's two-day workshop at its annual convention during the NCAA Women's Final Four in Tampa, April 3-4.

The "So You Want To Be A Coach" program increases the understanding and application of skills necessary to secure coaching positions in women's basketball, increases the understanding and awareness of competencies necessary for success in coaching, introduces female basketball players to coaches and administrators, and raises awareness of the existing talent pool of female basketball players who have a passion and interest in coaching the game of women's basketball.

Markowski, a three-time All-Big Ten center from Lincoln, Neb., has been one of the top post players in the nation throughout her four-year career for the Huskers. The three-time Lisa Leslie Award candidate has scored more than 1,600 points and grabbed nearly 1,100 rebounds while setting the school record with 47 double-doubles during her career.

Markowski and Iowa's Sydney Affolter were the only two active players in the Big Ten Conference chosen for the 2025 program. Those two players will be in action against each other on Thursday night when the Huskers take on the Hawkeyes in Iowa City. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
