Husker Baseball Haymarket Park

Jett Buck went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI to lead Nebraska to an 11-1 run-rule win in seven innings against North Dakota State on Wednesday afternoon at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.

Nebraska (11-5) scored 11 runs on nine hits, while North Dakota State (2-14) totaled one run, two hits and three errors.

Buck’s three-hit performance headlined a balanced Husker offensive effort that saw five players combine for six hit by pitches. Mac Moyer went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored, and Case Sanderson was 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored. Dylan Carey drew a walk and drove in a run, while Preston Freeman added an RBI and Drew Grego contributed a hit and run scored.

Cooper Katskee improved to 2-0 on the season, striking out eight batters across five innings while allowing one run on two hits. Caleb Clark followed with a perfect inning featuring three strikeouts, and Pryce Bender closed out the win with a scoreless seventh.

North Dakota State grabbed a quick 1-0 lead with a solo homer on the first pitch of the game.

Nebraska responded with a six-run second inning to take control for good. Grego and Jeter Worthley were each hit by pitches to put runners on first and second with one out, while Moyer doubled down the left-field line to score Grego. Carey drew a bases-loaded walk before Sanderson’s RBI single to center field gave the Huskers a 3-0 lead.

Buck delivered the big blow with a two-RBI double to right-center field that scored Carey and Joshua Overbeek to push the lead to 5-1. Freeman grounded out to plate NU’s sixth run of the inning.

Nebraska added a run in the third on an NDSU throwing error, and the Huskers erupted for three more in the fifth inning to blow the game open at 10-1. Moyer singled and Overbeek walked before the pair executed a double steal, with Moyer scoring on a throwing error on the play. Overbeek later scored on a wild pitch, and a passed ball plated Sanderson to push the lead to 10-1.

Buck capped the scoring with an RBI double to center in the seventh to trigger the 11-1 run- rule victory and give the Huskers their sixth consecutive win.

Nebraska continues action this weekend, as the Huskers welcome Maine to Lincoln for a three-game series at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.
