Board of Trustees Welcomes Angela Stenger

Nebraska State News

LINCOLN, NE. — The Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela "Angie" Stenger to the Board, bringing extensive experience in workforce development, economic growth, and community engagement to the governance of Chadron State, Peru State, and Wayne State Colleges.

"We are delighted to welcome Angie to the Board of Trustees," said Marjean Terrell, Chair of the Board. "Her background in workforce development and expertise will be instrumental in guiding Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges toward continued success and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the students we serve."

Stenger is a partner with Flood Communications and currently serves as Executive Director of Growing Together Northeast Nebraska, a regional community partnership focused on strengthening the workforce, supporting economic development, and creating vibrant communities where people choose to visit, study, work, and build their futures. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Goshen College.

As a trustee, Stenger looks forward to advancing the mission of the State Colleges by ensuring access, affordability, and opportunities for student success.

"I am honored to serve on the Board of Trustees and support the important work of Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges," Stenger said. "I am deeply committed to ensuring these institutions remain accessible, high-quality educational environments for all students. That means not only maintaining affordability, but also encouraging innovation, strengthening partnerships with communities and employers, and ensuring academic programs continue to meet the evolving needs of Nebraska's workforce. Our State Colleges play a vital role in creating opportunities for students while helping communities across Nebraska grow and thrive."

Stenger said she is particularly passionate about supporting innovative partnerships between colleges and communities, expanding opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience while in school, and strengthening rural workforce pipelines and talent retention efforts across Nebraska.

The Board of Trustees provides leadership and oversight for the Nebraska State College System, which serves thousands of students through Chadron State College, Peru State College, and Wayne State College. Together, the colleges play a vital role in preparing graduates for successful careers while supporting the workforce and economic needs of Nebraska communities.

Trustees are appointed by the Governor for six-year terms. Governor Pillen appointed Stenger to replace Jess Zeiss.
