Frontier County Sheriffs Office Deputy Attempted to Stop a Lincoln County Man on a Warrant.

On March 31, 2026, a Frontier County Sheriffs Office deputy attempted to stop Bryan Werkmeister for a Lincoln County warrant. Werkmeister observed the deputy and ran into 411 Howard Avenue in Curtis. Prior to a perimeter being established around the residence, another male ran out the back door. Deputies made a perimeter around the residence and began making announcements over a loudspeaker for him to exit the residence.

Werkmeister did not comply with our commands. A search warrant was obtained for the residence, the Frontier County Sheriff's Office made entry into the residence. As deputies entered the home, Werkmeister exited the residence through another door and was taken into custody by law enforcement on the perimeter. Werkmeister was transported to Lincoln County Detention Center.

Medicine Valley Schools were placed in a hold during the situation out of an abundance of caution. The male that ran from the residence was identified as Michael B Cox. Cox had an active warrant out of Frontier County for Flight to Avoid Arrest. Cox was located and taken into custody at another location in Curtis shortly after Werkmeister was taken into custody.

We would like to thank the Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Game and Parks for their assistance with the situation. We are thankful this situation came to a conclusion without any injuries.

Michael Jordan,

Sheriff of Frontier County
