McCook Chamber of Commerce Announces New President & CEO

Molly Smith will join the McCook Chamber as the new President & CEO. Smith is currently finishing a role at the McCook Junior High as a paraprofessional.  She plans to start in the chamber role on May 2nd.

“With the many goals slated for the remainder of 2022 and into 2023, we are excited to have Molly leading the chamber.  She brings a communication and public relations background that will take our future goals of involvement, education and promotion to the next level”, Chamber Board President Lori Beeby said.

Smith and her family have lived in McCook since 2021.  Her husband Ben is the manager of Rams Horn Dairy. Along with their son, they find McCook to be a charming community full of life and potential. Molly has a leadership background in various educational and extension roles.  She has led online programs, SAT teams and was a member of the Arts Academy at Bella Vista Data Leadership Team and the Discovery Assessment Team.  She was a program coordinator in extension work at New Mexico State University. In addition, Molly has experience teaching elementary and middle school in New Mexico, Colorado and even spending time in Columbus, Nebraska as a teacher.

Smith earned her Master of Arts in Communication in 2010 from Eastern New Mexico University and has her undergraduate degree in Communication-Public Relations from Eastern New Mexico University.

Since 2014, in her teacher and paraprofessional roles, Smith has provided support to colleagues in management and core content planning and delivery.  She found focus in creating meaningful relationships with every student, parent, peer and administrative staff.  She encouraged open communication at all levels.

During her time in extension, she designed safety program implementation and maintenance plans for dairy farmers.  She enjoys Ag leadership, orchestrating smooth and efficient program development by collaborating cross-functionally across many departments.

Smith hopes to use this experience and education to build and expand on the opportunities the chamber continues to develop with members and community events.

“The chamber shows many benefits to members and the continued expansion of business promotions throughout the area,” Smith said. “I look forward to working with the businesses to understand their needs and work to enhance the community through involvement, education and communication efforts.”

“I am excited for this opportunity” Smith said. “We enjoy McCook.  We plan to make this our home and continue to build relationships.  The McCook Chamber has so many plans to assist businesses and enhance community events.  I look forward to the challenge.”

As Smith makes the transition to President & CEO, she can be reached at the McCook Chamber at 308-345-3200.
