Date Set for 2022 Nebraska Law Enforcement Annual Ceremony
(Grand Island, NE) - Police Week is a time set aside for those who have lost a loved one in law enforcement, so that they may gather, mourn, remember and celebrate the lives of their family member and/or friend who made the ultimate sacrifice. Sunday, May 15th is Peace Officer’s Memorial Day and marks the beginning of Police Week. Peace Officer’s Memorial Day is a national day of observance that pays tribute to local, state and federal law enforcement personnel and corrections personnel who died in the line of duty. In Nebraska, we too honor these fine men and women.
Our 2022 Nebraska Law Enforcement Annual Ceremony will take place Friday May 20th, 2022 at the Law Memorial Park on State Fair Blvd in Grand Island.
This year NE State Attorney General Doug Peterson will be in attendance and our key-note speaker will be Nebraska Crime Commission Executive Director, Don Arp. Kearney, Ne Police Chief Brian Waugh will also speak as he reflects on his service in law enforcement. Social hour will be 9:00am with the ceremony starting at 10:00am. Unfortunately, this year we will be adding a name to the memorial wall.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy Kevin Kennedy Jr. passed away December 26th, 2020 after contracting the Covid-19 virus.
Kevin Kennedy Jr’s name will be the 149th name on the memorial wall. We ask to that you join us in prayer as we remember and honor Kevin and pray for continued healing for his family, friends and brothers and sisters in law enforcement.
The Nebraska Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony is open to the public and along with your support and prayers, you are also invited to join us in-person to honor and memorialize our fallen brothers and sisters, on Friday May 20th, 2022 at 10:00am.
